Camouflage

Life has consistently thrown me into emotional and physical blunders. The effect that cruelty from others had on my life, from ill-intended gossip to unfounded hatred, forged a mental defense mechanism. This art piece represents my method of “protection.” The sketching and shading of graphite allowed me to build up a shield. With every stroke and every smear, I grew in strength. In warfare, soldiers utilize helmets and masks to guard against danger and threats. Thus, my abstract portrayal of this concept, lined with flowers preserves my mind and my spirit through any adversity that I may face. Like camouflage, my exterior disguises and deceives the eyes of the enemy.
