Painting

Triple Balance

The twists and turns of life allow every person to experience different sides of themselves. This painting serves as a reflection of my identity. Progressing from the left, I exist as an artist, a model, and a student. In this natural expanse, each role intertwines intricately, revealing the demands and emotions unique to its realm. Each figure exists in its own realm, allowing colors to mobilize emotions. Metaphorically, the sunrise allows resilience through the struggles of each identity. As an artist, hues of blue offer a varied perspective of the world, an addition of contrast signifies academic pressures as a student, and confidence surrounds the model in the center as light is manipulated to radiate off the skin. Despite unique struggles, each diverse lifestyle merges in the mind, encapsulated in boundaryless boxes, embodying diversity, opportunity, and perseverance.

Refuge of my Childhood

Trees have always represented a sense of calmness and serenity in my life. My childhood home was surrounded by the protection from the harsh weather by the trees. Their towering effect left me in awe at their existence. This idea further extended into my own interpretation that trees could protect me from any forms of adversities. Oil on canvas allowed me to blend the paints and play with the aspect of light and dark. As the trees encompass the dark aspects of the frame, I allow myself to be vulnerable through uses of light colors. In addition, the bright color of the poisonous frog illuminates the dangers in life that we must watch out for. Incorporating natural colors for the snake alludes to the deceiving presence of goodness hidden with intention. Placing the trees thoughtfully within the composition symbolizes the psychological refuge of my childhood, emanating a reassuring sense of shelter that continues to echo as I continue to grow.

Blooming

My artwork delves into the concept of "mental beauty," serving as a poignant reminder of the significance of nurturing one's mental well-being to foster inner radiance. In a world fixated on external enhancements, the Clematis flower serves as a profound symbol, embodying the essence of mental beauty. I used the concept of light to add shadows in an attempt to emphasize the darkness that lingers in our minds, despite our efforts to be positive about ourselves. By integrating the Clematis flower into this piece, I aspire to ignite dialogue and transform the stigma that exists on mental health, urging audiences to prioritize their mental health as the cornerstone of genuine beauty, ultimately shaping their appearance through the essences they expel from their inner being and personal characteristics, going beyond the external aesthetic enhancements.
