Venus
I was inspired after reading the book “Drive Your Plow Over the Bones of the Dead” by Olga Tokarczuk, a woman who took the side of nature over man. My work delves into the concept of the interconnectedness of women and their roles as the ultimate nurturers. Drawing on the symbolism of Venus, the Greek goddess of beauty, I seek to represent the collective essence of all women and their profound link with the natural world. With an emphasis on the inherent power of women, my sculpture embodies the life-giving force they embody. Just as we often associate nature with a feminine identity, my creative process seamlessly merges these two powerful entities. The use of a stone sculpture serves as a testament to the resilience of women, while the incorporation of artificial plants symbolizes their nurturing and life-affirming spirit. The convergence of these elements underscores the invaluable contribution of women in shaping and sustaining our world.
